Where Have I Been??

Hello fellow divas,

I have neglected my blog, I must dust off the cyber dust and continue!  Speaking of dusting, I hate dusting, I need to ask my hubby if he will dust for me sometime!!  I have been really busy with school so that is why I haven't gotten on in a long time.  But in that time I've made three pies, triple berry-Strawberry, blueberry and marionberry; a blueberry peach; and a strawberry rhubarb!  Note to readers, DO NOT add too much sugar to the strawberry rhubarb, tooooo sugary.  Still yummy though!  I also made some zucchini bread, and had so much batter leftover that I made muffins too, and I almost liked that better than the bread itself!  Speaking of zucchini, we have a GIANT one that I need to shred up and save.

So I am starting a new rule for myself, to make into a habit while I'm on summer break.
I must do the following daily:
Read at least ONE CHAPTER in the Bible
Read at least ONE CHAPTER in whichever book I am reading
DO ALL DISHES in the sink even if there are two.

I really want to finish the book I am reading now, because I will be done with a series I have been working on since I was in tenth grade....

Yeah......

Well my computer is dying!

LOVE TO ALL MY FELLOW DOMESTIC DIVAS!

Root Beer Float Cake

I didn't make up this recipe, but it is very, very, VERY yummy!  It comes from my 9X13 The Pan that Can cookbook!
Here is the recipe:
Ingredients:
1 Package 2-layer-size caramel or yellow cake mix (I never make layers with it, and I've always used yellow cake mix)
Root Beer (It doesn't matter what kind, I prefer Mug Root Beer, very sweet, and very yummy)
1 1/2 Teaspoons Vanilla
1 Teaspoon Finely shredded Lemon Peel
1 Recipe Root Beer Icing (I will provide the recipe for that as well)

Root Beer Icing:
In a medium bowl beat 1/3 cup butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed until smooth.  Gradually add 1 cup powdered sugar, beating well.  Slowly beat in 3 tablespoons root beer and one teaspoon vanilla.  Gradually beat in two cups additional powdered sugar.  If necessary, beat in a little more root beer or powdered sugar to make icing of spreading consistency.

Here are the steps:
Great a 9X13 inch baking pan or baking dish; set aside.  Preheat oven to 350 Fahrenheit.  If using a baking pan or 325 if using a baking dish.  Prepare cake mix according to package directions, except substitute root beer for the liquid called for and add the vanilla and lemon peel.  Spread batter evenly in prepared pan or dish.  Bake according to package directions.
While baking, make the Foot Beer Icing, and once cake has cooled spread on icing, and enjoy!

I recommend drinking milk with this cake :D

Enjoy and let me know what you think!!

First Post!

Hello fellow bloggers!

My cousin called me a fellow domestic diva yesterday, and that inspired me to start a new blog, called...you guessed it..Domestic Diva!  This is a relaxed blog just to post about my daily housewifey things!  To post recipes, baby names, cleaning products, anything!  I think it will be fun, feel free to comment, follow or anything!

Sooo....How is everyone's summer going?  I'm starting to turn pink, (or red, it is trivial, really), drinking lots of water, and whipped out my tank tops!  Unfortunately I have to attend school during the summer, not because I got failing grades or anything this last year, but because my program goes straight through, so I will graduate in March instead of June!  I am so excited to graduate, because that means I can move on with my life!  I want to buy a house, and have a yard, and a garage for my hubster!  --Oh, by the way, I call my husband my hubster, he calls me his wifey :)

Since I started summer term last week, I have been really focusing on taking lots of vitamins, and drinking lots of water--I've already lost some weight!  I also gave up soda, and caffeine, it has almost been a week since I've had either.  I am still exhausted.

Does anyone do reading on the side?  (Does anyone have time for reading on the side?!?!)  I've been reading through Exodus in the Bible, and I've really been enjoying it!  I'm also reading about a million other books, but I am officially reading The Ancient One, which is a book I read in sixth grade, and I remember it being super good, and I'm already a quarter through it, and not much has happened yet!  I think the next book I read will be one of my marriage books, I have quite a few.

Well, I have been rambling on, and on, about random stuff!  I ought to go...I'm going to try to convince my hubster to go on a walk with me and my doggie, we need the exercise, and it is warm out still!

From one Domestic Diva to another :)

Have a wonderful Sunday night!
